Last day of August

the garden is winding down for the season, in many ways... yet there is still much growing going on... alot of life, and more to be harvested... hope you enjoy your visit, on this, the last day of august 2006 ... see you in september!
one sunflower, not yet flowered, but almost

we have gourd!
herbs gone wild!

ripe tomatoes everyday!

acorn squash ... my favorite!

the beans are growing faster than i can harvest and preserve them
Harvest!

harvesting of the garden has begun!
i've canned up several jars of green beans and pickles! & I've made several loaves of my famous herb bread! how wonderful it is to be eating such wonderful food, grown with magic and love!
i've been blessed to be sharing the fruits of the garden with a few residents at the nursing home Minstrel works at, one resident now looks forward to his daily tomato ... it warms my heart to bring him a little love from our garden, it makes him SO happy.
perhaps that is what gardening is all about .. sharing the love, & preserving a bit of summer to enjoy all year long. I look forward to openning a jar of fresh greenbeans during the dark days of winter... like openning a jar of summer sunshinei've not forgotten you my friends, you too can share in the bounty of Harvest... if only in pictures ... Much Love and Bountiful Blissings!
with the Harvest, comes alot of work ... i've had little time to blog, but will attempt to get us all up to date in the coming days!

the Cauldron
the *cauldron* by day and night ... the new wood storage bench ... yesterday it was painted a lovely hunter green to blend in with the hedge behind it... the wood pile you see in the day time photo was burned that night (it would not fit in the new woodbox) ... below is a picture of that magical fire ... is that a fire imp?

and the first two tomatos are harvestested!
now that the first canning is done... on to reclaim the garden!
